We’ve taken a bad turn today; went in for the second round of chemo which is the Valcade and it’s not working. Julie’s bad plasma cells are still invading bone marrow and her hemotologist (Phillps) was expecting to see improvement; tests show that she is about where she was one month ago, which isn’t where we were expecting to be. Doc Phillips immediately called Doc Hari who is the Myleoma specialist at Froeterdt, and after a few bags of platelets, we had to go directly to Froedert. Julie is currently in the BMT (Bone Marrow Transplant) unit at Froedert in Milw.. Her kidneys are in rough shape and spleen is still swollen. Still all in all, she is in pretty good shape; fevers weren’t as high, and her vitals are good. I have no idea tonight what they are going to do other than give a different course of more aggressive chemo; at the moment, I’m not sure what that will be. Won’t know anymore till tomorrow; my assumption is that they will be keeping her there for at least a week, maybe longer; we just don’t know. i am very thankful however that Doc Phillips is smart enough to know when something isn’t working and to turn it over to Froeterdt; I’m not so sure all specialists are that quick to turn over their assessments. She’s in good hands and we are still hopeful.
We love the Wills family. We are praying continually for your health and success!!
